Sounds good. I've been running Avast for the last week and so far I like it better than AVG.
For some reason my dad found the opposite. He had Avast and his computer was hit hard with a virus. He switched to AVG and it located and destroyed the virus. Not sure why though, maybe he didn't have a very up-to-date version.

Really? That's not good. AVG annoyed me every time I booted up and I'd have to sit there and wait to do anything while it searched for and downloaded updates. Every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I appreciate that it is keeping up to date, but the automatic update function doesn't have to be so up front blocking me from doing what I want until it is done.
Avast seems to do its auto updates behind the scenes better.
I gotta weigh in as a converted Avast fan. I used to use AVG and just find that Avast is a "thinner" application. I've gotten a couple "false positives" but beyond that, I'm lovin' the Avast.
CleanUp! is AWESOME.
This program deletes each file one at a time, unlike the windows application. Which compiles all of the files into one and THAN deletes them, which takes a lot longer.
I tend to only do this once every couple weeks, and I surf the web a lot so not having to wait 30 mins for it to compile the files and than another 30 for it to delete them is nice.

FreeAmp is ancient... get either beep-media-player or XMMS
To install, assuming you're using ubuntu (or a debian based distro) do
sudo apt-get install xmms
but I'd be surprised if it's not already on your system.
You're doing something wrong. You have to go into the options area and change the importing feature to mp3 including the bitrate you want. Then add the Apple format file to your library. Highlight all the files you want to convert, right click and choose import file to mp3.
anyone know of a Mac OSX or OS9 graphics freeware that'll do basic PhotoShop-type image editing? I'm just looking for something that'll let me do simple cut&paste along non-straight lines...i.e, cut George W. Bush's head from an A.P. photo & paste it onto Bozo The Clown's body, etc.
I think you mean the wrong program. Freeamp is an amp emulator not a multimedia player.

Freeamp was a media player, until it was forced to change it's name. It became Zinf (Zinf is not Freeamp)...
