Jason Aldean on SNL

I also like watching live music although I have to admit I don't know who 70% of the guests and hosts are. But it keeps me young(er).

LOL, that is exactly why I don't use the musical breaks to grab a beer or snacks even if I don't think I'll like the guest. If I don't force myself to watch I would still be listening to old Journey and Styx LP's.

I thought it was a very cool they did this and a nice tribute to Tom Petty. As for him singing flat whatever.
I thought he sounded like Jason and he's not a fantastic singer anyhow. In the shadow of such a horrible tragedy and the loss of a rock icon calling Jason Aldean out for singing flat is the least thing we have to worry about.
They don't have Pro Tools for live performance. I've heard him the past two years after some time off. He sounded almost perfect vocally both times. Not easy to do singing those songs.

I know what it's like to sing a song a little too high for the shape you're voice is in at the moment. I actually liked and appreciated the performance, for what they had gone through and using a Petty song to give a message. Kudos to Aldean and his band, and to SNL for this rather moving tribute.
I thought the SNL performance was very good. Back in the day he used to be a rock singer in Georgia when he was a kid. Including performing some tunes by GNR.

Yeah, he was flat. And, I don't believe that blaming poor monitors is an excuse for not being able to sing on pitch. I could have heard any band across the country hacking Tom Petty songs last week, and they put that on TV. But, I have zero respect for bro-country "artists".
They use IEMs, some very good ones and his pitch was not really that far off, just occasionally.
