After travelling for the past few moths with just the QC, I have returned to base and realised it’s time to bite the bullet and shift the remaining pedals. I spent a few hours playing and comparing the feel and really dont have a strong argument to just use the QC. Doom 2, Effectrode PC-2A, Becos Stella Pro, OC-2, HX One, Prometheus DLX Filter, Ferris Fjord Fuzz, all going…. The marginal differences of the QC versions of these is barely noticeable in context, and the size and recallability by far outweighs the differences.

Dont get me wrong, I still love pedals, but, don't really need them (for my purposes). I do supplement my QC with a Big Booty Judy, DCX Bass (though I just captured it and dont really need it), and a 3Leaf Octabvre (which Im hoping the new OC2 block coming will replace).

Me too. I'm not sure I could go complete QC. Like I said, if I HAD to, I could get away with it. But I do no air travel and just practice about weekly and gig a few times a year. A PT2 works for me with the QC and some other stuff. I'm really hoping the OC2, meatbox and a synth coming could help as well. But we'll see.

TBH, the only thing that keeps me thinking of additional pedals is tactility. I find the behaviour chosen by the dev team to be really useless in a live / tweaking context as the pots change their amount of adjustment dynamically depending on the speed of rotation. I wish for the day that they add a preference to make the pots 1:1. Leaning down and tweaking a setting at present requires you to look, whereas any external pedal can be done by feel.

Is that not a thing with the QC?? I've had several multieffects units that at least allowed that with a change of settings...

One of my main reasons for not ditching say my dirt pedals is due to the fact I'm lazy about capturing things. If I sat down and really spent the time to capture them, they wouldn't be on my board. Also my amp. I don't have the setup to properly capture my amp. That's kind of a big one for me. If I really did sit down and take the time to capture all my devices, my board would be more than half as large.

Also, I'm still very not feeling the octaves on the QC. I need that POG/pitchfork sound and the QC can't do it to my ears. Analogue octave as well. And synth stuff. Everything else I'm pretty happy with.

But then there are some pedals, like you're saying (I think this is what you're kind of saying) that are just controlled better with the actual pedal. Like I could approximate a whammy and plug in an exp to the QC. But IMO, it wouldn't be as good as an actual whammy. Same with like say runaway feedback on a delay that you could control with a delay and exp or just by bending down and turning the knob on the delay (like I used to do). So for me there are some trade offs. But if I step back and think about it, I rarely use effects the way I used to. It's mostly just dirt and occasional octave and synth outside of what I use in the QC.

I have not been able to pull my MBD3 off my board. It it's always on and the boost is too damn useful. And since I have to have a board, the Omnicomp stays. Because I love it. And Broughton. And if I'm gonna have two, it's not stretch to add a couple more, most of which are always on and make up the core of my tone:

The Broughton SVF is currently in the RFEs old spot and the BPD is being put through its paces. That and the Blackbeard are the spots for dirt I can't get a satisfactory capture of.

Now having said all that, we practice in a Jamhub, through headphones, so this is my whole rig. Next week, we start playing with amps and acoustic drums, so I am going to disable the cab sim and run the QC into the return of my Genzler MG800 and into two 2x12s. I am beyond excited.

Exactly. That’s pretty much the same boat I’m in.

I’m circling again… 😀
Would it be possible to capture a Mesa Subway D800+ with good/great results?

Has anyone already done this?

Pretty sure I have a capture of my old D800+ that I sold years ago. Let me try and find it

Edit: Here try this:

Hello everyone! I'm being tempted by the QC recently. I've been using the GT 1000 for some years and like very much what it can do (I mostly play metal live/studio). Does anyone here has switched from the GT 1000 to the QC and could share his opinions?

Thanks in advance!
