Quad Cortex - Neural DSP

Man where the hell is this 3.1 update? Announced in September? Is this typical?

We'll be lucky if we see it by years end. Disappointing to say that, but it's just reality with Neural. Not complaining. I've grown used to waiting for updates on units like these a while ago. Especially when the QC is involved. And I won't say it's for lack of effort on their part. I'm sure they are hard at work. But there's a reason why they are ironically known for "SOON"...

Welcome to the world of NDSP.

I say it will be january. Because of the complexity of the synth and octave.

But always remember kids, Neural give a s*** about our customer wishes. Otherwise we would have to possibility to switch the preset up and down switches to a normal behaviour :sour::rage:

I have to say that I think you are the only person that has expressed that this functionality/logic is really troublesome. I remember reading about your feedback before I got the QC. In an ideal world, sure you could configure this. In my mind, the foot switches act logically as you are moving from 1x towards 2x or what have you and 2 is more than 1 so go up. I understand this is opposite to how we scroll when looking at presets. I think most machines with presets operate this way (I am thinking about synthesizers). I suppose a solution for you could be to have a midi foot switcher programmed to work how you think it should.

Also, I don’t believe a synth is in 3.1 (I WISH THOUGH). It makes sense to me that they will get it done ahead of the Black Friday sale but I have no clue around what is actually happening.

The biggest thing I wished they would add to the QC is a preference to chose the rotational behaviour of the knobs. At present the amount the parameter changes is dynamically based on the speed of rotation. Means you HAVE to look at the parameter as you dial in a sound. For real intuitive tactile control a consistent 1:1 behaviour is needed.

If they opened access to MIDI or OSC to control the knobs I would happily use an external device like a Midi Fighter Twister.

Oooh thats such a tease. The "Sweetwater Video" synth block isn't making its way into 3.1 is it?

Well, the Notes say the
  • Subharmonic Synth (Digitech® DOD® Meatbox SubSynth®)
will be added. Next to the Boss OC-2

Yeah, it is probably going to take a while still until we get some proper synth sounds on the QC, hopefully Rabea-type synths will arrive in the future.

In the meantime, the only pedal I have on my board with the QC is the Source Audio C4 Synth, and it works very well in a FX loop, and controlling it via MIDI from the QC when changing scenes/presets etc. So much fun to use together with the QC!

Folks who are expecting a Rabea-type mono synth are going to be REALLY disappointed with the Meatbox. I wish they'd called it a sub-octave generator for less confusion.

At least some of these devices are bass-oriented, we haven't had much if any of that for a long time

Honestly, if it’s a more beefy tone than the, say gojira octave, I’ll be happy. I have a meatbox and I really just want something that’s deeper and little more organic sounding than the octaves already available. The meatbox can’t be applied with ease to most situations imo. But a really beefy octave is more usable in some contexts.

I’ll also be very happy when a synth is released in the QC. I can wait. But it’ll feel much more complete when a synth is put inside there.

And I just put my H9 back on my board and was thinking about running it in the loop in the QC. Mainly going to use it for reverbs and delays.

My QC is my main board, but I have another board with a JHS Punchline on it. It has drive and comp built in, but on the rare occasion I need another effect, I tossed on an HX One. It has more bass oriented effects since Line6 and Ampeg are both owned by Yamaha. All the Ampeg bass pedals are in there.

I love the C4. Now that I have my DCX Bass captured, I may swap it back in.

Hello everyone! I'm being tempted by the QC recently. I've been using the GT 1000 for some years and like very much what it can do (I mostly play metal live/studio). Does anyone here has switched from the GT 1000 to the QC and could share his opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Yo! I had a GT1000Core, which I loved.

The QC out of the box got me tones I'd given up trying to emulate on the GT, a really chewy valve amp tones, as well as more modern options. IMO, they beat the GT and HX hands down. I also loved the drive tones, which I'd always struggle with on other units.

Captures are awesome if you have pedals you love. I have a bunch of drives I use for bass and guitar, and now I can do captures of my favourite settings and recall them at the press of a button rather than endlessly dialling in settings on the real pedal.

The modulation, delays, and reverbs seem fine. There's stuff I like more, stuff I like less across the two, but I'm way less picky about them.

The Gojira octaver is ace, tracks better than the GT for me.

I didn't mind the GT interface, but the QC is waaaay more intuitive.
