I edited my post re the Ibby in the local store...
It's a SRX390. pup blend, & 2 band EQ, 2 HB's, charcoal blue/gray w/ pearloid binding- Still has-what I think are the orig. Elixirs on it!!!!
What U all think of this?? worth grabbing. It certainly PLAYS & sounds OK-well GOOD really, So..... AS I say I DON'T NEED another bass, but I could always sell another one- perhaps a more Expensive one, as this one does the job superbly I reckon!
Any info on that particular model is appreciated..........SRX390
Forgot to mention it comes w/ a OHSC- HArd ABS plastic with Ibanez insignia in relief(or what ever U call it) which -also- is brand new looking, & inside is matched perfectly to the bass. Sheeeesh- this'd be worth $150 here EASY:hmm:

My SR655.
Taken just after leaving the shop with it last spring. Not the best pic, but it's the only one I have available at the moment... :hmm:

Axstar photos............

This is the 9V active version...... A much different beast than the passive one I had. The tone knob on this one has several effects that roll in and out. It takes some getting used to but I'm sorting it out :D

Overall the playability and build quality is top notch. It's in great shape for a 20+ year old bass :bassist: It's very light and easy to play.

Thanks again to Rico for a great deal on an awesome bass!!!

WOW GAS. I've been thinking I want a headless except nothing has really stood out to me, but that thing is pretty epic! What kind of "effects" are we talkin about that roll in and out thru the active tone knob?

Well, lemme tell ya.......... :p

It's sort of strange but very 80's. All the way in one direction it seems to be a clean signal. Then it goes through 2-3 zones of what sounds like a flanger/phaser/compressor. I'm not sure how to describe it any other way. The middle knob is volume and the first knob is pup blend. I pretty much play it with the "tone" knob clean and dial in the sound/tone I want through my Zoom box. It has a great finger tone and REALLY growls if you dig in. I could see using the "tone" knob for a slap solo if played live :bassist: It really alters the tone in a strange and unique way....... I love the thing!

From what I've seen the passive Axstars are more common and feature just a plain blend/vol/tone circuit. If you start looking for one, the active ones have the battery compartment on the back as in the photo I posted.

I just weighed it for kicks....................7.34 lbs on my accurate digi fish scale

I own a MIJ SR800 I bought in '90 or '91. I put EMGs in it long ago and I played that bass until this past February when I stumbled upon a Warwick 5 string that had been marked down over 50% at GC. Even though I don't play the Ibanez much now except for doing slap lines I don't want to get rid of it. It's a very comfortable instrument and it never let me down. My only complaint with it is the tone is not quite P and not quite J, but with my little Hartke Bass Attack DI I can get the sounds I want from it.

My second Ibanez, a Roadster RS 800...a great bass, my new favorite

I love the necks on these. A lot like, if not the same as, my Blazer. My Roadstar 824 is 24 fret, though.

I played an 800 just like yours in a shop a few years ago. I should really try not to let any sweet used Ibbys go. There's a beat up champagne Roadstar II in my local used instrument shop. Your post has me GASing for it again.
