The Ibanez Club (Part 2)

Ok, owners, here's a question...
My SR655 (seen above) has a barrel-style jack that is recessed, strat-like, into the body. It's loose. The wall of the control cavity where the jack enters is cut at a slight inward angle, preventing the nut holding the jack from sitting flush. The nut is as tight as it can be, but the jack still has a fair amount of play. Any ideas?

mine is like solarmist explanation. However, maybe you should try a washer or a few locking washers behind the nut.

I like the gold hardware on the 655, but what's with the mismatched, cheap-feeling black plastic knobs?
They look like they came off an effects pedal. I've wanted to replace them with gold knobs, but never really got around to it.

Yeah I agree, with the gold hardware it really needs gold knobs. With the black hardware they are fine and I don't mind them now. I need to bum the camera from my wife.

Count me in.

I used to be an Ibanez player. In the 90's I used to play an SR885 almost exclusively. The electronics were terrible in that thing, and after ten years or so of a love-hate relationship with that bass, I got rid of it. I traded it for an SR406. The electronics in that bass were at least quiet, but it was really nothing to rave about overall.

Now, I just got myself an ATK305. I wasn't really sure at first if I made a good choice here. But, this thing has really grown on me. After considerable testing, and a restringing today with my favourite DR's, I guess I finally have to admit to myself that this bass is a keeper.

Hi Guys,

BAD NEWS from England!!! I got my RD828LE back from my friends place and had to bring it back on the train. She was looking a bit shabby so I lemon oiled her, re-strung her, polish etc and couldn't wait to give her a blast.
BUT THEN DISASTER!!!! I plug her into my rig and no sound!!! I bought this 2nd hand and she's lovely but the previous owner had modified the electrics and didn't supply a wiring diagram. On taking the back cover off about half a dozen wires have come away from the boards on the pre-amp circuitry plus the -ve lead from the battery has come off. It's a really tight cavity with the system that previous owner fitted. I'm gutted!!! She'll have to go to the Doctor I think:crying:

How about a current pic from me?

I believe the model is a GSRM 20 Its a Mikro. I am teaching my daughter Bass and she's only 7 and tiny. Its a 28.6 inch scale with a 3/4 sized body. All passive and thumpy for days. I keep threatening my band with it. One Sunday morning I'm gonna show up with it and they won't know what to do. I love it. It's like playing a baritone guitar with the correct amount of strings and spacing. You can really burn up the fretboard, and they're only $170 new.

Hey Headle,
You may be able to help me on this one Dude. My son is 6 years old in December. I bought him a half size 6 string last year to get him used to the mechanics of playing a guitar. You reckon the Mikro would suit him? He loves messing around on my basses but obviously they are too large for him!!! I was thinking about a half size bass but 3/4 may be a possibility? What you think?

Prodigal Wolf My daughter is a very small 7 and the bass is still a bit big for her. On a strap it doesn't fit well but sitting down she does ok. We are just starting out and I have her working on open strings and counting. It's gonna be a slow process but I bet I learn something as well.

Count me in! I would never have even considered an Ibanez had I not wondered into a shop in Spain and seen an SR700. Further research on the Ibanez page and a few strategically placed desktop wallpapers later, the Mrs bought me a BTB 676 for my 31st birthday :)

Hey, Vallejo, the wood combo on your BTB looks like the exact reverse of mine.
