The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

Howdy all! I've been slow to get my Cirrus pix up - for that I apologize. I recently sold my Cirrus 4, but if all goes well, I'll be replacing her with a Cirrus 5 in Tiger's Eye AND I plan on having a custom shop Cirrus by this time next year (hopefully sooner).

Gotta love these basses!!!

I'm frequently asked which of my rigs I like more, and like many of those who've asked me, I read alot of reviews and opinions from guys here at TB prior to getting my Epi's. The truth is that I'm a big fan of Epi's and Bergies...but comparing these cabs is like comparing apples and oranges; I like apples and oranges equally...it simply depends on what what I've got a taste for and what the meal calls for. :bassist:

I'll take a number. PIcked up a used Cirrus 5 string and almost got rid of it but was talked out of it by a friend and wonder what the hell I was thinking. Anyway Love the bass plays and sounds as good as... well you all know.

Here it is...

WOW !!!! That's a walnut/walnut !! Highly desirable. You have a good friend there. "FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK OR SELL THEIR CIRRUS'S !"

I figured it was Bubinga. Did they make Walnut on Walnut?

Yes, they made a walnut/walnut Cirrus. Yours could be bubinga, but I was guessing it is walnut top. Either way, it's NICE !!!!! Best basses I've ever owned. Also, when I play live I ALWAYS get compliments on the Cirrus !!!!!!!!

Hey fellow CIRRUS players AND lovers - I took my tiger eye to Michael Dolan Custom Guitars in Santa Rosa to have him remove the polyurethane coating and went to a hand rubbed oil finish like on my bubinga. It's AWESOME !! The poly always slowed me down because my elbow would stick. Now it glides, and the tone is pretty much the same. It feels better in my hands and just overall better. It took a couple weeks. It's a long process, but well worth the wait. In case you were wondering, YES, I do have a second CIRRUS, so I was never without one. Here is a pic of it NOW . I tried to upload a "before" but it won't take. Go to my myspace to see the before and after.

Behind me in the first picture, all hidden away, is my 5 string Jazz..

By the way, just wondering what to use for strings.. I normally use D'addario XL .45 - .130's, and because of the 35 inch scale, the low B string tapers thin before the nut... are there strings that have a longer low B?
