The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

btw the dunlop fretboard conditioner says not recommended for maple fretboards on the label. I didn't notice that until after I used it on my maple boarded Millennium :eyebrow:. That was a couple of months ago and I haven't noticed any discoloration or any other problems so maybe it's no big deal.
Yeah, I'm not sure why that is unless they're assuming most maple boards will already be sealed to the point it would just sit on top and then be hard to dry off (which the Cirrus I suppose could be). To be honest, I've never had to treat a maple board before. Until my new MTD, all my maple boards have been poly'd, which you never need to oil, of course. Main thing is, you don't need to use an oil like that unless the grain is fairly obviously drying out.

Here's my slightly customized baby. It's the best bass I've ever owned and the last I'll ever need :bassist:

I just bought another CIRRUS , and I want to BUMP this thread ! I am so thrilled about the CIRRUS as a line of basses. They should ALMOST be a brand in it's own rite. They are SO amazing, and definitely have a cult following.
Here's a pic of my new one !
I own three CIRRUS basses now
1. alder/maple/maple - maple fret board
2. alder/maple/redwood - pao ferro fretboard
3. walnut/bubinga - pao ferro fretboard.

I've owned many, many basses over the last 25 yerars, and the CIRRUS is by FAR the "best" in so many ways.

Hear my CIRRUS going thru an AMPEG SVT-CL on myspace link !!

Heard the first 2 tracks in your myspace and love the sound you got there.

How did you record it and what effects did you use ?

Thanks !! I'm glad you listened to my tracks on myspace. The engineer used PRO TOOLS , so I don't know. Most likely just compression. I used my WALNUT / BUBINGA CIRRUS. It has THE tone. I played through an Ampeg. I've tried to reproduce the sound ever since - it's driving me crazy !! I just can't reproduce it live. If you go to Scott Llamas's Popsmear Records in San Rafael, CA to record your albums, then you WILL get that sound !... that's my secret sauce !

Thanks for the advice. I see it a bit difficult to contact him since I`m almost 8000 miles away, but will keep it in mind :)

Anyway, if you check this thread, you`ll see I`ve also recorded a track with my Cirrus and could achieve the Pbass sound I was looking for. Once again, amazing bass.

Steve, I almost bought that bass. We had the deal worked out and at the last minute I backed out because I thought I wanted another 5 string. I went to find the link and saw it was already sold...

I'm kinda glad it sold though!

Here's my alder/redwood Cirrus I just bought:

Wow, finally found you guys! I play a Ruby Red Cirrus 5 and I love it! I have no problems getting all kinds of tone out of this bass. Played it thru all kinds of amps and cabs, never let's me down. The neck is about the easiest, smoothest I've ever played. Using a GK2001Rb right now with various cabs and the Cirrus sounds great! Bought it about 3 yrs. ago for about $1400, that was a great price for a nice bass I thought. I know if I have 4-5k I could get something amazing, but I think this bass does quite well for it's price. So count me in too! Thanx....
I'll try to get a pic or 2 of it soon,.....

Persoanlly, I've played $4k-$5k basses, and I like the Cirrus better ! It is an amazing bass. Welcome to the family ! Oh, and I quote the wise words of TB's Dr. Cheese, "The Cirrus plays better than any Alembic I've owned."
