The official WAY HUGE club!

I just picked up a swollen pickle and a pork loin. Again haha. I'm going to do the mod to the PL again. I always forget how many sounds are in the SP, it's kinda nuts how deep that pedal can go.

On a side note, I remember I used to run my PL @ 18v. That's still ok to do isn't it? I'm not sure if there were any revisions to the circuit the last year or two they were in production that would've made not a good idea to run it @ 18v....

I vaguely remember that being a thing, but also vaguely remember it not doing much? Maybe that's just me. I'll have to research as well and see what happens...

Seems like I might have to buy another PL, one for 9v and one for 18v! I love the 9v sounds as well, since I'm using it in more of a stoner rock setting on lower gain. It fits that application perfectly, but that 18v sounded amazing for just slight breakup. Dang it, TB!

Just seems to add to the list of reasons why this is just the most usable dirt I've ever come across. May not be my favorite tone ever, but it just works in so many ways. If I had to choose a single dirt (God forbid), the PL wins hands down.

Well, according to this thread from 8 years ago, that I also posted in... 18v is good! Don't remember if I ever tried it, but I may have to give it another go soon. And I had just put my box of pedals away... Let me know if you try it! I still have the same opinion of the PL - it's simply the best overall drive pedal I've ever used. It plain works in every situation I could possibly need. Even if it's not my favorite tone, it works for everything!

i wouldn't run a stock pork loin at 18V. the stock main filter cap is rated at 16V.

Not that it's in any way conclusive, but I just ran my PL at 18v for a bit. Nothing bad happened, but at the same time, I didn't hear much difference at all. Perhaps slightly more dynamic? But nothing I think I'd notice in a mix, similar levels of dirt (since many times more volts = cleaner), and really mostly the same as 9v. The incredible differences that were noted in the thread I linked earlier were not present for me. I didn't find it a worthwhile difference. That being said, I DO have my Pork Loins modded ala JohnK, so that may be part of it. It was also at low volume, so that could be something too. Regardless, I don't plan on running my PL at 18v as it didn't seem to be a big enough difference for my needs. I absolutely LOVE the PL, and 18v didn't do anything for me that 9v didn't also do.

EDIT: This was all done with an active bass - Ibanez SR505 with a Bart NTMB preamp. So some of the complaints of the PL clipping on basses with hotter outputs may or may not be accurate. I've certainly never had issues with unwanted clipping.

So not unless I made that single cap mod (C34 was it?)?? Or just in general?

I used to run my old one at 18v. But idk what period the one I just got is from.
it was C6:
