The official WAY HUGE club!

I'm on my third go-around with the Swollen Pickle. It's now one of my favorite fuzzes for both guitar and bass. I have one for each instrument! Takes a while to learn and dial in, but once you do - it's fantastic.

I just received an Angry Troll today for $70 shipped. I've always wanted to try one, and I am not disappointed! Dead simple to use, and sounds great. I find that the 2nd and 3rd fists are my favorites. Enough grind to be heard, but still plenty of attack and clean signal present to carry the mix. An absolutely fabulous pedal. Only played with it a few minutes, but it works perfectly for me for a standalone OD to distortion and on the same settings can be a dirty boost into another dirt pedal. Color me impressed, and I may have to keep my eyes out for another.
First I’ve heard of the angry troll, I’ll have to look it up.
I was on the hunt for a fuzz when I found the Pickle, I was after a green Russian, or some other crazy fuzz like that. The pickle let me sculpt my own fuzz, I don’t know what could be better than that! And how it keeps the low end, and then some! Works for me! I’d like to try the wren and cuff pickle pie hella fuzz, but don’t know how much different it will be than the swollen pickle. And I still get to make my own fuzz sound.
Hey, St. Peter’s, I grew up in St. Charles as a kid. Then moved to St. Louis in the early 90’s, and now in seattle. I miss the Lou, but I never missed st Charles. Fuzz on!!

Nice - O'Fallon native here. Just moved slightly east...

Anyway, the Angry Troll is marketed as a boost pedal. But it can certainly do some overdrive. It's pretty much the exact opposite of the Swollen Pickle in that it's very simple. Only two knobs - and one only has 6 positions on the dial. So really, you just choose the amount of "anger" (aka gain) you want and then crank the volume to whatever you need. That's it.

If you're looking for Green Russian muffs, I'd also recommend the Russian Pickle. It's Way Huge's take on the circuit. Or the Pork & Pickle (Pork Loin and Russian Pickle in one pedal).

Way Huge is probably my favorite brand overall. Everything Jeorge Tripps makes is fantastic and worth picking up. I've got the Swollen Pickle, Pork Loin, Pork & Pickle, Atreides, Echo Puss, Green Rhino, Purple Platypus, and Fat Sandwich. Each one is amazing at what it does. I need to pick up more!

So? Has anyone used the StoneBurner yet?
I haven't, but I'm thinking of getting one in the near future. What's interesting is if I understand right, the stone burner may just be the octave and fuzz circuit from the Atreides, same for the attack vector.

I wonder how true it is, though both seem to be more versatile versions in either case.

I didn't realize that. I've been interested in the Attack Vector because I love envelope filters AND Way Huge, so I figured that would be a great combo. I have the Atreides, and while it's weird and certainly does stuff nothing else I have can do, it's also incredibly finicky. Seems to prefer passive basses, and is very sensitive. Definitely not a tone I'll use often, but a fun one. If the Attack Vector is based off of that, I'm interested.

Hello TBers! :)

So, here's how it goes...

After the latest replies on this thread and since the original early posters on that didn't show up, I finally decided to found the Official Way Huge club.
I personally own 3 Way Huge pedals (Pork Loin, Green Rhino, and a Swollen Pickle) and I absolutely love them, they're great for bass, not losing any low end!
So anyone chiming in is kindly requested to mention which pedal/pedals does he own and whether or not he'd like a number!

Show some Way Huge love and demand a number, LETS GO!! :bassist: :hyper:

edit: so here are the numbers so far (will try to update this first post as new members come along):

Pork & Pickle. It sits between my compressor and my dual tube preamp. Works well. Definitely a keeper.

Yeah, I’ve found one at Guitar Center by me. It’s little, like the new mini way huge pedals. I haven’t tried it out. I wondered if it would sound like a brassmaster. Some crazy fuzz. Interesting news you all present.

Just resurfaced another thread... but might as well post here as well: I got rid of my aqua puss six months ago and wish I hadn't. Didn't even know about the echo puss. Has anyone compared them recently?

Anyone selling an aqua or echo puss? Trade for a Phase 95? :)

Had an Echo Puss a while back; it was fantastic, wish I hadn't sold it

Another Echo Puss user here. I think of it as a Carbon Copy with the modulation controls on top, plus a blend control. It's a really great analog delay, and doesn't oscillate easily either, so it's great for ambient playing with long pad-like textures.

It's got more delay time than a Carbon Copy as well. If memory serves, both the Echo Puss AND the Carbon Copy are both Jeorge Tripps designs. They're both excellent, but for the reasons listed in the past few comments I'm definitely more a fan of the Echo Puss. It's my #1 delay for ease of use, options, and tone. My 2nd is the Rubberneck, but as awesome as it is, it's just more than I need and takes up tons of space. I have two Echo Pusses - never parting with either. I also have 2 Carbon Copies - but those are ubiquitous, so no big deal if they stay or not.

I have no experience with the Aqua Puss outside of a few minutes demoing one in a shop years ago. I remember thinking it fed back easily (didn't even know what oscillation meant at the time!), but it has a good reputation for slapback style delay. I've always wondered what I'd think of one now that I understand it better. I don't need long delay times typically, so it may do the trick for me.

Good review! Thank you. Just had an offer accepted on reverb, so I’ll see soon.
