The official WAY HUGE club!

Hey, y'all. I haven't darkened the door of this thread in quite a while... in the past, had an Aquapuss that I loved.. and have had a few Green Rhinos at different times..
Recently I got interested in a Pork loin..
Now I in there's the Pork and Pickle... but I'm looking for just a Pork Loin

Are they no longer made? Checking around, they're not listed anywhere.

They're discontinued, but are available used from Reverb and other places. Fantastic overdrive.

Pork Loin is no longer made.
They do the Pork & Pickle, available new.
But the PL is only available used, and not in a "smalls" size, like the P&P.

Well that stinks! It's such a great pedal, and seems to have gotten tons of love and great sales. Makes no sense to discontinue something that folks obviously love. But what do I know, I'm just a bassist. :roflmao:

I think they’re moving everything to the smalls size. I’m sure it’s because they are cheaper to make. They’re all SMD where the older ones are through hole. SMD is cheaper and faster to make and the smaller size requires less materials. That stinks for moderation like me. I’m holding on to my PL because it’s modded and I absolutely love it.

Anybody use a Saffron Squeeze? There's a local one, and I clearly love my Way Huge, but have never heard much of the Saffron Squeeze. I love my Milk Box for adding a slight bit of high end, can the Saffron Squeeze do that as well?

One day, I'm planning on making a dual purpose guitar/bass board, and Way Huge will figure prominently as each of them is always in the running for favorite effects types for both bass and guitar. How's the Squeeze on guitar?

Any opinions on the Green Rhino MK4 vs. MK5? I know the 4 has the additional EQ dial, but the 5 is smaller. Which ends up winning out on bass?
I haven't tried a IV, but I owned a V.

I feel the V is great for bass.
The ability to fine tune the highs is excellent.
You can select either 100HZ or 500Hz for cut/boost, via an internal slider switch.
While the GR is TS based, and has a big "mid-hump",
I've found that instead of boosting lows to compensate for the perceived lack of lows, I got better results by cutting at 500hz, and raising the volume.
This helped flatten the EQ, and get a better overall response.

I’ve had the Pork Loin for a couple weeks and really like it.
I’m looking at getting a Way Huge Swollen Pickle. I’m not sure between mkii and mkiii.
I checked out the mkiii manual online and it doesn’t mention the internal trim pots and noticed that it has toggle switches instead of the small knobs. Are the internal trim pots on the mkiii built into the pedal now? It seems like the mkiii is more user friendly. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah the Smalls version does not have the internal trimpots, and the two small knobs are simplified into the toggle switches. If you want all the extra controls, and want to spend hours dialing them in, the MKIIS is still readily available as well. I personally found that both the internal pots and small knobs were best turned all the way in a particular direction, so you may not need them depending on what you're looking for.

I found a used Swollen Pickle mkIIs at Guitar Center about a year ago, for just under $80. Took about a week to settle on the internal trim pot settings I liked. I find this pedal to be pretty amazing. So glad I found it.
I'm on my third go-around with the Swollen Pickle. It's now one of my favorite fuzzes for both guitar and bass. I have one for each instrument! Takes a while to learn and dial in, but once you do - it's fantastic.

I just received an Angry Troll today for $70 shipped. I've always wanted to try one, and I am not disappointed! Dead simple to use, and sounds great. I find that the 2nd and 3rd fists are my favorites. Enough grind to be heard, but still plenty of attack and clean signal present to carry the mix. An absolutely fabulous pedal. Only played with it a few minutes, but it works perfectly for me for a standalone OD to distortion and on the same settings can be a dirty boost into another dirt pedal. Color me impressed, and I may have to keep my eyes out for another.
