U.S. Women's National Soccer Team

Good game by the Lionesses.

I’m chomping at the bit for tomorrow. I think USWNT is going to be hungry.
I thought it was much more than a "good game" by England: They absolutely dominated a very good side. I knew they were good, but this was the first time I was convinced that they have a totally legit shot at winning this thing.

No doubt that the USWNT will be hungry, but the front line is going to have to be much better than they were last time out if they're going to beat France.

"Dominated a very good side" is spot on and what was different about the England victory.

I'm hoping the US women will do the same as they are playing a very good side today.

I'll be interested to see if there will be any changes to the starting 11. I think you need Rapinoe for her leadership and penalty kicking and I think Heath just had an off-game last time, but Morgan was hacked mercilessly against Spain and I doubt she is 100%, maybe Press or Lloyd up front?

Press.

I love Carli, but she’d just be swapped out at the 60th minute. I think Press can give similar playmaking with greater endurance.

Here's an interesting analysis and suggested starting XI:

2 lineup changes the USWNT should make against France

Whatever Coach Ellis does will be criticized mercilessly, but I think her decisions will come down to stuff that she knows and that we don't. For example, just how banged up is Morgan? Does Sauerbrunn still have the stamina to go another 90? There are a lot of good options, so I'm just gonna Trust in Jill and hope for the best.

The temperature in Paris is 90F right now. The expected temperature when they take the field is 84F.

Isn't it weird that they're starting the game at 9pm local time? Temperature-wise that's good, but they'll be expected to bring their best effort around 11pm.

Not weird at all, that puts the game at 3 eastern daylight time which is a bigger potential TV audience that an earlier start
Follow the money.

Lots of sports have games in a similar time frame. 8PM start for quite a few games for the Portland Thorns soccer team that has four members on the USWNT, for instance.

Same starting XI for USWNT as last game -- with Horan on the bench (?!). A lotta folks think she's the most important player on the team and the best midfielder in the world. I've gotta think that Jill knows something that we don't know....

Tuesday, England v USA, gonna be a good game, can't wait

...and then England v Germany next Sunday lol
May I step in being English...

I think England - USA will be a close game, I can see it going to extra time. England have been great going forward but our centre backs were a little shaky the last game. I will be surprised if USA don't score at least once against us. My wife is American so very much looking forward to it seeing as she rubs it in when you guys cream the Olympics!
