Well, I got what I’d paid for: BAM200 fail!

We had one that the exposure lamp harness shorted out. It burned so bad that the customer pushed it outside because it smelled so bad. The bottom side of the exposure glass & mirrors were black.
That's nasty! And they depend on us to fix all that. Sounds like you were (are) a copier tech. I have so many stories like that. I was doing it for about 20 years.

Anyone notice that the listing for these amps is gone now?

Mine is sitting on the porch now, but I'm stuck on a long work call. Will go grab it in a bit. Curious if I'm going to get someone else's return or a new item. I didn't buy an open-box item or anything funny.
Yeah, I noticed that too. No trace of it on Amazon. Also, the shipping packaging was....interesting. Amazon just dropped mine off in the product packaging, no shipping box at all.

I got out of the field about 10-15 years ago, got an onsite job at one company, then started to work from home well before covid and still do printer admin work from home for a very large financial institution. There are probably more of us here but we should probably get back to the gist of this thread after hijacking it. ;)

Yep. Same here. I got off my work call a bit ago and plugged mine up. It was brand new, no grubby mitt-prints and still in the taped-up plastic bags inside.

I played it for about 20 minutes through a GK Neo II 112 cab and an American Performer PJ, at a healthy volume. Worked fine, but I found that this little guy doesn't really have much volume on tap in 8 ohm mode. Yes, you gotta crank the bass and pull back on the mids and highs as well. This is a perfect amp for grab and go practice with an unplugged acoustic guitar based group. After about half the rotation on the master, it didn't really get much louder, though harshness and compression increased. I was running about 9am on the gain, with some light green signal led flickering. This is a passive bass that's not really that hot.

I'm sure it will have more punch when running more cabs in 4 ohm mode, but I didn't try that out yet. Just wanted to see if it would survive the first 5 minutes, haha!

For $99, I'm not mad about it.

I ordered one of these after doing a google search at , of all places, SEARS.COM for $120. After 7 days, the order cancelled as not available. Probably a good thing. However, I was already receiving this amp as a back-up and not getting it made me want one MORE. I found on AMAZON, the THRUST BQ250 amp for $219. I ordered it and it arrives tomorrow. NOW, I am wondering are there any of us TB'ers that have used that amp? Any reliability issues with it? Pros and Cons??? Thanks for your input...although I know that I can return easily to Amazon.

I wonder if it has something to do with using a 4 ohm cab? Only time that ever happened to me was with a PA and mismatched speakers.

Not saying it should happen at all as the manual states it can handle a 4 ohm cab, but wondering why it happens to some and not others. I have a BH250 and its held out excellently as a backup for a few gigs. Sucks that this one (which is even smaller and cheaper) doesn't do the same.

It felt good being one of the group that scored the $99 Amazon deal. I was happy. Subsequently read some of the problems with the head but hoped for the best. My delivery just came and I’m facing a Shrödinger’s cat situation. Do I plug it in and find out it’s dead? Or leave it taped up in its factory sealed box and continue to feel good about my score? Guess I’ll review the Amazon return policy.

Try it out! It's already there!

If it doesn't work or you just don't like it, return it. Would be silly not to try it out, imho. Mine works great so far.
