Been playing a MIJ Epiphone EB-3 Elite w/ a DiMarzio Model One p'up and black Labella tapes in a rocking little cover band.
That goes into a Broughton HPF, then to a SansAmp Bass Fly Rig, EHX Cockfight fuzz/envelope (only for a couple tunes, for effect), and into an Eden WT405 and nice old single 15 cab w/small mids driver.
This is my favorite sounding rig I've used in many years. I'm just really enjoying playing in this little combo we've got going. And I've come to really like that shorter scale. I thought I'd feel like it was a toy, but the way it's set up I'm loving playing it... Very sweet, deep and punchy tones from that hefty little baseball bat, lol.

4string fretted. I don’t think my fingers are long enough for a 5 or 6 string bass.
I just don’t like how 5 and 6 string basses feel in my hands.
TBH I find a five-string to be visually awkward whereas a six-stringer puts the standard 4 string electric bass strings in the middle with the low B and high C. It's not as much of a visual adjustment for me.

I believe you... I have a Rogue 5 string, a Rogue generic Pbass, and a Harmony H906. I'm much more comfortable playing the 4 strings rather than my 5 string. Pardon the mess... But here's my Rogue Generic Pbass. My Harmony and 5 string on the operating table.

Tony Levin used a stingray 3 string for a bit. IIRC it was lost in a house fire. I always thought that was a cool idea.
Ya, that was sad, he had Music Man make that for him to make a point...
Those are the $$$ making strings...
Wouldn't that shake up the bass playing business/industry to start making those for sale enmasse...
I think that would be refreshing and even needed, for a bit of grounding!

I think you should also have a bass guitar size category to make this poll more meaningful. On the old poll I played various 34" basses, -now I play nothing but short scale ones. ~In fact I believe short scale basses have been making a huge comeback again in the past several years...

Got rid of all my 5's. Won't play a 5 live ever again. Have 1 left in the cupboard for sentimental reasons but the rest are 4's and fretted, some vintage, some 20-30 years old and 2-3 around a lustrum a piece.
