What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

First gig in several weeks. A private party for a corporation in NYC. There was decent food, parking will be reimbursed and we were done by 9:00. Not bad.

I never thought I'd find myself on a stage with mostly Gibson instruments & Fender amps. It's a funny world like that sometimes.
If you're really smart, you'll be able to deduct who we were opening for and at what venue.
The BL set that amp up for me since I had to race straight over from another gig. (One of the cooler BLs out there – on many different levels.)
It sounded & felt pretty good for the most part. Could just be me, but I think my own tube heads, Valvetrain Brandywine & Sunn 200s w/ the Bag End S-15D have more oomph & better distortion.
Still, one of the cooler backlines I've ever used. (A lot better than going amp-less at the previous gig, that's for sure!)

A double header, well almost, this weekend in a Champaign/wine bar and a lounge/bar. Went light as possible as volume was going to be low. Thought about the MB 112 combo but that is relatively heavy compared to a Rumble 40. Went with the Rumble and brought the fretless for the wine bar as it is a jazzier setlist. They double booked us so we got the night off with pay..

The dream Glockenklang rig was for sale this year and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity even though it was 720km away. Luckily I had a gig coming up there and a truck going over and back. I don’t use a rig as much as I used to due to iem. But occasionally there’s a gig that’s perfect for it, and it doesn’t disappoint 😎

Venue-provided backline, some tiny Ampeg combo amp… might’ve been called a BA-1M or something like that? I didn’t really get a good look at it, just plugged in, turned up the volume, left all the other knobs exactly as they were. And it sounded great!

How do you like the Legacy? Any similarities with the old GK amps?
I haven't played through an old RB in a long while, but to me, it sounds like that for sure. Robert Gallien says the Legacy 500 was specifically designed as the modern incarnation of the 800RB. I got a a great sound--clear, articulate, but also tough--a great rock sound. Some of that GK grind was there. Honestly it sounded so good I wish they had mic'd my rig instead of my usual DI.

Tonight’s joyful noise maker.
What a lethal combo, Ric into an SVT pushing a 2x15. 32 degrees , outdoors.
Yes that’s a heater warming the bass before the last set.

78 Fender Precision with worn in Rotosounds
Ampeg Rocket Bass 500 combo

Chicago blues gig in a small club in Springfield MA. Carried the room just fine and I ended up keeping thebuilt in drive on all night for a little bit of compression. Felt good sounded good.
Bet that sounded tasty. Dunno if I've ever seen that version of the Fender P headstock graphics. Was that a lefty-specific thing?

I was annoyed going into this gig because the keyboard player was invited. Nothing against him per se, main reasons are that it's a small bar and I didn't think pay would be sufficient. Fortunately I was wrong about the pay and we managed to squeeze everyone in. So I'm happy it happened, especially given that my Friday gig was canceled due to the dreaded double booking.

Played the Zon because headless makes sense in cramped conditions (and it's a great bass). Rig was Darkglass over Bergantino, dUg pedal in front.

Super warm bass sound, super cold (32 degree air!!)
iPhone recording. Unrehearsed request ( we’ve only played it one other time)
