Where do you eat after shows??

Mainly I go home, but in Denver Two-Fisted Mario's never seemed to close. Not sure if it made through the pandemic; I haven't played downtown again.]

That’s a great spot! I haven’t been there in a long time, so I’m not sure of the status either. Marquis pizza used to be another favorite of mine when I was playing in LoDo.

These days I’m usually playing in the mountains, so If I make it back to Denver before 2 or 3 I’ll hit up Jerusalem or Cheba Hut for a sandwich.

bassslinger e,

experience has taught me to hold out for a healthy breakfast... just saying and not telling.

by the way: our tour slang for one trough mentioned here is "awful house" but we got em also for similar stuff.

don't mean to dump any dampers in the pampers though, let your freak flag fly. I think life is for learning.

on bass, watt

I appreciate that advice truly! I definitely try to eat as healthy as possible, which eliminates a lot of late night options.

Getting some Ethiopian food or a falafel sandwich after a show when I’m home in Denver usually feels like a decent compromise between late night availability and something that at least has vegetables. But when I’m out of town I’ll usually not eat after a gig. I’ll give holding out for breakfast a go here in town though!

I’m a huge fan by the way!! It’s a real honor to hear from you!!!

Knowing the junk food that's out there now, I'd just come home and make pasta e aglio e olio: Pasta with good olive oil, fresh garlic, and fresh parsley finish. I prefer it with no cheese. Or Cacio e Pepe with some Peccorino Romano.

It's kind of like mac and cheese for Italians, my favorite comfort food.

I have never been inside a Waffle House before 1AM.

In this band I started a tradition of the "drive-home sandwich." So for the trip I will have a tidy sub I can eat one handed as I drive. I really do need that and a vitamin beverage to ward off hand cramps. My drummer and singer will often ask me what tonight's drive-home sandwich is.

I’ve done about every late night spot in Denver for post 2am food. One of my favorite now defunct places was called Mary Jane’s Pizza. They were open from 11pm to 4:20am and hung signed pizza boxes from all of the bands and entertainers that made it a regular haunt.

What is the go to post-gig food spot in your neck of the woods?
if any scots here they'll know what i'm talking about pizza crolla glasgow 156 Buchannan street

None of the good spots we used to hit are open late enough since the pandemic hit. They all scaled back their hours.

So in Houston , Tx. , it's pretty much Wataburger or Denny's. :atoz:

EDIT: And Waffle House

We had a show in TX and the plane was late leaving Calif. By the time we got in the only thing open was Whataburger and the guys have never been to one. So at 1am we ate there. The next day after sound check, we ate there again. After the show Sat night…… again ! To say, the guys loved it !!! I wanted Mama’s Cafe or….. but no ! Whataburger !

The last 4 years with my once-a-week cover band, I almost never ate out after a gig. Got it in my mind that food on gig night was just less take-home $. Unless BL was buying (which happened from time to time) I frequently had Thorntons roller grill on the way to the gig and very occasionally McD's afterwards if I had missed dinner.

After a few sets, I just wanted to get home and sleep.
