Wife Doesn’t Know

My wife knows about everything I buy. I don't hide anything. If it's something I want and can afford, I buy it. My wife does the same. We always make sure bills are paid first. Marriage is built on trust. If you lie about one thing, your wife will wonder what else you are lying about.

Just so we are all “on the same sheet of music “, I started this thread in jest with a dab of humor and a pinch of sarcasm as an avenue to share my anxiousness and excitement of getting a new bass. Not to get into a moral debate about ones values or otherwise. Sorry to have misled anyone to the contrary. I don’t want people out there thinking I or anybody else that participated is a godless heathen with incorrigible values.

Not sure how serious the OP is but if he has one of those marriages where he needs to get permission from the other person before making a purchase, then he should probably just bite the bullet and tell her now. Good luck!

I'll just come right out and say it...if they couldn't swing it financially then the wife is totally right.....BUT if they can afford it, he married the wrong girl.

Yeah that's rough. Who knows what the story behind that is. Maybe the dude had a bad habit of buying expensive stuff without really being able to afford it. Or maybe the wife was way out of line. *shrug*

Fair enough. I'm lucky, my wife is awesome.

Nope I couldn't pull that off. She handles the finances, So unless she loves one I show her like the Red Les Paul I just got, it isn't going to fly.
Dude, I feel for you, but if you're cool with it so be it. It will be a cold day in Hell when I work for a living and someone tells me I have to account for every penny I earn and that I get no say in the matter. Just me personally, not meant to be offensive. The day she tells me I can't buy something that we can afford, and that won't harm us financially is the day she quits getting stuff too.

Having said that, my wife is awesome and I don't have to worry about these things.

I'm out of guesses...symmetric headstock is hard enough to find, but carbon fiber makes it difficult. Carvin I know has that as an add on, but would be made in America also...so. Gibson also has some 5 string symmetric headstock, but they put 2+3 not 3+2. Schecter, Lackland, G&L, Sadowsky, Fender, Squier, MM, and PRS have asymmetric headstocks. I can only think of BC Rich or Danelectro.

I'm in the fortunate or unfortunate position where I pay all the bills including anything that goes wrong in the house. So if I want to buy a bass or anything and I have the money, she can't really complain. Freedom aint free as they say LoL.
Wife is going back to school but works part tme, but more or less I'm in that boat to. Since I have a good day job I pay for everyitng more or less and her money is her money until she goes back to work full time.

Bah, I have this weird problem that I physically can't lie to my wife. Even years ago when I used to try, I'd get this weird physical reaction and get all nervous. It never went over well.

Now, I just tell her the truth. We have a bit of "Play Money" budgeted every month, split between the two of us. I also typically have some sort of wheel-and-deal money in process as well. Anytime I go over that, I let her know and next month, she get's a bigger cut of the fun money. No lies, no secret purchases, and all is well in the GG18 household...
