@drpepper thanks for that video! I needed it.
Does anyone find that the lower-end wireless IEM setups aren't so great for bass? For years I've been using a $200 wireless system by CAD. It gives me a mushy bass sound while the other instruments seem pretty accurate.
When I use the same earbuds to practice at home, wired, I get a fast, dynamic, accurate sound that I can work with.
It seems like I'd get a much better sound with wired IEMs on stage. Am I right?
Hmm, everything sounds fine, but the bass doesn't? I sure can't offer a definitive answer on that, but a starting point to test before blaming the IEM system out of hand would be to plug into the headphone output of the wireless transmitter. If that sounds fine, the issue is with/after the wireless signal (the transmission, receiver or your IEMs...what are your IEMs btw?).
I was trying some different IEMs and switched to a set that I guess had higher sensitivity...they were significantly louder than the set I had just switched from with the same settings. It wasn't dangerously loud but needed to come down. Before I did that I noticed that the bass sounded what I'd call distorted while everything seemed to sound okay. I lowered the level on the headphone amp and all was good. I'm going by the description of an issue I haven't heard, but a possibility could be level or gain at some point in the chain.
