So I just received my gently used B3 today and I want to say how tickled I am to find this thread. As a bass player with ZERO effects experience, the plethora of options on this unit are a bit overwhelming. To everyone who has contributed here, thank you! I've already played with a couple of the suggested patches on here and have bookmarked a couple to program into my unit once my extra long USB cable shows up.
They're interesting! I still enjoy my B3. I think the Monotone and Markbass sims were interesting as well.Oh man....I'm loving the SVT amp sim!
I've recently picked up a used B3, and am still in a state of intimidation over it. But today I used the B3 to drive my RCF EVOX8 compact line array PA system (1200watts, 12" bottom, 8x2 top array). This essentially mimics using a FRFR rig. I am blown away by the SVT amp sim and ALL/ANY of the cab sims that go with it. It's like a tone monster's smorgasbord!
My advice with this pedal is to focus on, and get good at, just one thing at a time. For me, that one thing currently is the SVT amp sim with the cab sims. One could even study all of the pedals of a group: amp sims, preamps, comps, verbs, fuzzes, etc...Then think about putting pedal combinations together into patches.
For those of you experimenting with the amp sims, are they all as compelling as the SVT sim?
This is exactly what I want to do with my B3. I see a lot of players on here saying a full range FRFR speaker won't be enough to compete with a bass specific rig but I think it has more to do with what you put into it.Oh man....I'm loving the SVT amp sim!

@Crystalman85 - your expertise is needed.
I am very much looking into the JPTR JIVE - a saturation effect in the old tape way.
Here is a video
Can you cook something up?
Cheers
John Campbell (according to equipboard) uses an EBS multi comp and sansamp into a mesa. The Mcomp is based on the EBS, use that and the bass driver, and tweak the settings to your bass and amp. If you're going direct you could maybe try the Aguilar amp sim in place of the mesa head.we have a lamb of god tribute band. i need a good tone. what s your idea?
