Cab Impulse Response Megathread

The reason I ask for other options - I've tried nearly all the options - here is my problem;

Shiftline Cabzone X\Bass - this unit is great. Perfect for my needs but due to issues in the Ukraine right now they are impossible to purchase. They are very rare in Australia to find 2nd hand. I stupidly sold mine to try something else.

Joyo Cab Box - I've owned 2 of these. Both times the USB input slot has broken meaning I can't update firmware or upload and further IR files.

Nux Solid Studio - this unit works OK, but when you upload 3rd party IR files you lose the microphone option. The software is funky to use, and also I had to buy a power regulated USB cable so that it would work.

Hotline Omni IR - looks like it will work ok, but on some occasions I need to use the unaffected output to my stage rig, and for me it's on the wrong side of the pedal.

Hence looking for other options , unless I can source a Shiftline unit in the next few months.

This is not the biggest problem of all, no?

P.S. Just a question considering you know the Omni IR and I'm interested in this product: having it its own internal EQ can it be used directly with the bass into the input (without an external preamp in the middle)? Do you think is it going to sound ok?

Hence looking for other options

what about:

Sonic IR
(no ground lift)

Suhr ACE - Suhr.com

Engl Cabloader - ENGL Amplification
(it seems similar to Nux Solid Studio)

Torpedo CAB M+ - Two notes

Some of you may have read this, but Redwirez has officially announced that they will no longer be providing Impulse Responses, and are closing up shop:

Redwirez Audio

Though the final shutdown date is a year away, they'll still offer support and various updates until then.
Some news
A Letter from Redwirez' Founder

Lincoln Brewster is taking the reigns at Redwirez. Unsure if they're still in business as previous, but good to know there's someone at the helm taking care of things.

I own a NUX mini studio as my firsf foray into IRs. Mainly using with my live rig as I need to go straight into FOH mixes through DI. Saw that the two notes torpedo has a variety of mic options in addition to selecting the cab. Does it make a huge difference to live sound compared to just the vanilla IR cab options? Hope that makes sense.

While it does make a difference, I would not call it huge. If you find a cab that you like it allows a little variation of the sound. Kind of more tight or loose.

If you are not happy with the cab sound it makes more difference to switch IRs. There are a few free packs around you can download if you don't like the built-in NUX ones.

I had the Two Notes CAB M. It gave me way too many options. I gave up on it because I always went back to the Le Bass cab sim.

HotoneOmni IR is not in production anymore. It's hard to buy it even on Chinese market (ie. Aliexpress) and there are problems with downlading the software.

Few days ago I bought TC Electronic Impulse IR Loader. I gotta say it's nice and easy to use. I use Shift Line's Bass IRs on it.

Does anyone have a link, images or database of the EQ spectrum for any IR’s? Or various bass cabs by normal EQ analysis?

Is there anything like that in this thread? I can’t find it.
It really depends upon the microphone used and its positioning what the curve will be.

IK Multimedia released their Tonex Pedal
TONEX Pedal
MSRP $400

It loads both Heads and IRs which Tonex includes
Including IK's special "VIR" multi-IR cabinets and custom IR Loader which have up to 2400 IR's per cabinet. You can pick the Mics and every Mic position per cabinet.

I was wondering when IK would offer VIR IRs in a pedal and now they have done it!

If you have your own great cabinet and mic, you can use the Tonex ecosystem to capture it to load it into the pedal.

Same for your head, Tonex can capture your own head, or use one of the many it includes.

This is an IR loader option for some people.

I picked one up.

I can't wait to put it through its paces.

If you want to do it yourself
You could load the IR into a DAW and then use a spectrum analyzer. Share out the screen captures on google docs, or if the analyzer exports CSV files (spreadsheets), share those out.

anyone try Celestion's SpeakerMix Pro?

i've been using the demo

clunky interface, but i like the DSRs and it seems to handle my Bergantino IRs nicely.

initially the price wa ridiculous at $279.

it's now marked down to $139 and includes 10 free DSRs.

there are THREE bass DSRs: Pulse 10, 12, & 15

the demo has a couple and they sound good with Helix Native bass amps.

on the fence as i have a few IR loaders already.

PT is always good for a review:
