Cab Impulse Response Megathread

for those that are interested.

After a couple of sessions with both units installed, I have now removed the Mooer Radar from my setup and installed the TC loader.
IMHO, I do think(believe/imagine) to hear a difference. My favourite high quality IR's (Celestion Bergantino, Redwires, Dr. Bonkers - all in 96/24 200 or 500ms) just sound a little bit livelier on the close miced IR's and a lot better on the IR's with mixed in room mics.
Also, the ease of use for the TC app in managing larger goups of IR's has won me over.
Another factor has been that the TC seems to be more tolerant of a higher input signal than the Radar, which is very easily overdriven...

from the TC website:

"Cab Sim and IR Loader to Host All of Your Favorite Impulse Responses with 20 built in cab models, A/B mode, 99 IR slots and supports IR lengths up to 200ms"

i use the 500ms Bergantino IR collection - seems these are incompatible with the TC IR loader.

Don't imagine so, as I think it would just truncate to 200ms, just as the Radar did to 23ms.
I have not consciously loaded a 500ms IR, since the Celestion IR's both Bergantino or otherwise are delivered both in 200 and 500ms.

Edit:
The built-in cab models are 19 guitar plus 1 bass (Celestion BL300x) in a single variant.
I chucked the lot..... That Celestion does sound nice tho. I might get the full collection from Celestion...

Hey, I have a question about IR loaders. I play bass in our Church band and our rhythm guitar player has been complaining that he doesn't like the sound of his Taylor plugged in. It sounds so much better acoustically. I saw a Taylor IR pack on the Worship Tutorials:

TLR 816 - Acoustic IR Pack - Worship Tutorials

I think this would get his sound where he would like it much more. I know this thread is about bass and about amp and cab IR's. This would not be an amp or cab IR but a guitar tone IR. I thought I would ask here because there seems to be a lot of experience in this thread about IR's.

So, my question is, what is the most affordable way to get a basic IR pedal that will load up these IR's?

This guy isn't a pedal guy and he doesn't like to fiddle with equipment. He only has a tuner and DI on his pedalboard. I am looking for something simple where he can pick an IR and just go with it. He is a friend, and I am probably going to buy one for him and pre-load the IR's as a Christmas gift. He is a friend, but I don't want to break the bank getting something expensive.

What about the Mooer Radar or the TC Electronic IR loader? Is there anything that would fit these requirements that might be even cheaper?

Sorry but I went down that rabbit hole and eventually sold the Taylor and the IR pedal. They are awesome guitars but I don't care for their electronics at all. The pedal I got was the LR Baggs Voiceprint Acoustic DI. The IR couldn't save it.

We ended up getting a NUX Optima Air pedal. Two of the preset IR's sound really good with the church Taylor. One is the Gibson Hummingbird, I can't remember what the other one is. We were going to buy the Taylor IR pack from Worship Tutorials, but right now the two in there are greatly improving the sound quality of the Taylor in the church mix.

Good to know. Yes, that I didn't try (to buy IRs), I just tried to capture the IR of the Taylor guitar myself with the pedal. I wish I had thought of that.

OPUS - Amp Sim & DynIR Engine

If anyone is interested or looking, Two Notes is having a huge sale on collections. I got the DynaIR bass collection for $87. If you haven't signed up for the newsletter, you can get a coupon code for another 20% off. Helluva deal.

The Complete Collection for Bass - Two notes

that's interesting since the Ashdown Collection is $79 on sale.

good deal.

personally, I like wall-of-sound, but have moved on.

I wish the Two Note Cab M+ and Opus had a way of routing what you would like through the line out.

For example - if you wanted to use this with a stage rig it would be great to be able route EQ\preamp to an onstage rig via the line out, but then have EQ\preamp, Poweramp and cab sim through the XLR.

My understanding is the line out carries just unaffected signal?

Or am I misunderstanding?

I think the Opus allows you to route either output however you want.

So I've just read through the Opus documentation. Depending on how accurate the emulation in this unit is, this is a real game changer in a pedal format.

These day I run a pedal board as my full preamp. Pedal chain is usually tuner - compressor - overdrive - preamp - cabsim\DI unit. For smaller gigs I usually run the pedal with cabsim engaged to FOH. For larger gigs I also run the line out of the cabsim unit (signal does not include the cabinet emulation) to my stage rig (Hartke LH500 and Ashdown ABM speakers). I like my set up and sound.

But if the Opus can be set so that the line out can use the EQ\preamp\poweramp but not the cab sim I could run the line out into the effects return of the LH500 and technically get an Ampeg amp flavour.

I've tried several Ir's... but all of them, more or less, tend to sound harsh or closed in the high frequencies, preferring exaggerated low frequencies... Too boomy.. . In the end I like them because they have a lot of punch, but I also need highs frequencies
Is there anything balanced in sound? I was watching Bergantino...
