Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

Im sure I've read more than one report in this thread that the berg NV sealed cabs don't sound great when paired with Berg ported cabs.

I had a pair of NV 115s while the low end sounded great they are not what I would say are big low end cabs.

If you like the tone of the hdn 212 you could extend your search for another to include a hdn 112 Or 210.
I used to gig a CN 212 and 112 stacked vertically.

I currently have a a ref 115 and can't say enough good things about it. Its definitely different from the above mentioned cabs and my NV 610, but its only been played at home so far.
thanks so much for your response!
I’ll try to find another hdn!

I don't see why a Ref 115 wouldn't work fine with it, especially if you want more low end.

Plus, if you decided you like the sound of it by itself, you could get another one.
Yes, I guess that will be my choice if I won’t find any HDN around.
Do you think a couple of refii 115 will work better for that kind of music style, or just add a refii 115 to my HDN?

I'm not a big fan of HF drivers, so I'm the wrong person to ask.

I was thinking of you adding it to the HDN, so you have options of how much zing you want.

Maybe wait for other people to chime in.

Hello everyone,
I would like to add a second cab to my hdn 212, as lately I joined a quite loud band (classic rock, grunge) and last time at the rehearsal I was missing some bottom end.
I was thinking to add a second hdn 212 but cannot really find one at the moment.
I found a nice nv115 but don’t really know if a sealed cab will pair nicely with a ported cab.
Does anyone use this kind of stack?
Or maybe better to go with a new ref ii 115? Or just pair another 212 like an nxv?
At the moment using a b-amp, but looking forward for a forte hp2
Keen to buy a stack of ref ii 115 but the hdn 212 needs to go:)
Thanks View attachment 7079177
There is a Bergantino CN212 here in the classifieds for sale by Britbonic.

It should be very compatible with the HDN.

Try Bass Central. I think they may have one left. But they’re our only dealer that would have one at this point.
Just put an order in to Bass Central.

Of course I do not need the cabinet (have 6 other incredible Bergantinos, and no other branded cabinets) — but the idea of rocking this with my tube heads is just too tantalizing to pass up.

Also — If their website is correct, there still may be one more NV610T waiting for a new home. ;)

I’ve not found mixing sealed and ported (or ceramic and neo) Berg cabs to be optimum. Some combo’s I’ve tried worked better than others…but not optimum.

NV115 and REF2 115 are both fantastic cabs. Ime, 2x NV115’s sound far better than using only one. The REF2 115 however…sounds amazing in single cab use (but wouldn’t be enough, given your search for a second cab…)

If you plan to keep the HDN212, I’d recommend tracking down any model Berg neo/ported 212 (or 112) cab. An additional 112 does make a volume difference; nice stack height; gives you some use options.

If you aren't going to look into the NV115 could you shoot the classifieds link my way? :D

So I had some gigs for a food and wine festival at Disney World this weekend. After the first gig I drove over to Bass Central and got the Ref115. A really great cab. I’ve been wanting a 15 inch berg for a while now. Top notch like all the berg stuff. I’m very pleased with it. I’m running my degier into a Jule Simone(awesome btw) straight into the front of the berg Bamp(my favorite amp) and into the ref115. The singer/guitarist in the band used to tour as a bassist. He’s really into gear and tone. He LOVES the REF115 as well. He could tell the difference between the two nights. We also had a gig today at a fundraiser in the country. The cab was great in all the settings. Pics added.

Im really digging the ref115. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it as a stand alone for most gigs. There’s just something about a 15 that I love. However, if I need a modern slap tone I’ll most likely use one of my other berg cabs with a tweeter. Just my two cents.

I would think a Berg neo 212 or 210 would be your best bet. You may not be able to find a hdn but I think a Berg neo series would pair. I’ve had a NV115 and I’ve read where players matched them successfully with a ported cab but while I never tried it, I am skeptical. I had a CN112 and a NV115 and was really fortunate to look ahead and sell the NV115 and find a CN210.

So, mine is an original HP which has been upgraded to HP2X functionality. It's honestly one of the best bass heads I've played through. Adding the X transformer was subtle, but I could hear some added texture and growl in the lower notes, which I definitely liked.
If I understand correctly your upgrade was only the x transformer not the increased 3db functionality that Hp2 has/had??

Jim followed up this discussion with he would only upgrade the Hp version one..I didn’t see mention specifically say the 2 power was included in an upgrade. Maybe I misunderstood??

It's very easy to do the X update, but I would only consider it if amps were sent back here so I can test them before sending them back. Of course shipping and labor would then have to figure into the cost of the update. The "2" update is not an option. Requires drilling and case modification and we would not be willing to offer that.
Jim please clarify what the HP upgrade consists of in regard to power increase plus the transformer x. I have the original HP version one. Not sure of the 3db increase is included…Thanks.
