I bought a black Fender USA Jazz bass and a sunburst USA Standard Jazz bass. I played them both and kept the sunburst. I got a full refund including cost of shipping for the black one.

There are a couple of basses I'm keeping an eye on but frankly I'm pretty sketched out by GC in general. I'd just like to know that at least I can return it to my local GC if the bass turns out to be, let's say not exactly how they describe it to me over the phone.

Yep, that's basically how it works. Regarding shipping charges, they won't refund what they charged you for shipping (which is likely to be more than what it actually cost them considering the amount of business they do with UPS and FedEx Ground/Home Delivery). And I've returned a number of things and I've kept a lot!

I've had similar experiences...a Hartke HyDrive 410 cost about the same as your Diesel to ship from somewhere way out East to Chicago (with tax, 14 month ProCoverage and shipping the cabinet was under $120 :hyper: ). I got an Ampeg SVT410HLF shipping box out of the deal too.

I saw another a few weeks ago for $249 but shipping (again from the East Coast) would have been $45...so I didn't do it. In that case, I think they'd make some money.
