NAD: QSC has killed my need for bass amps

Eeehhhhhh.... I don't know well enough to know exactly the frequency response of the speaker in comparison to others. What I can tell you is that my k12.2 pretty much holds up about as well as my Aguilar Tone Hammer and DB 112 did. The DB felt a little fuller on the bottom end but overall both were pretty comparable. When running two DB112s though, they would outperform the k12.2 on bass. Most 412, 410, & 810s I've played would outdo the 112s as well. That said, my tone hammer and DB112S are gone, as is my SWR 12 Stack, as is my SVT810E, and their respective heads. K12.2 is still in my house though. My powered speaker is definitely sufficient and much more versatile in varied use than of them were.
This is for the reasons I stated above.

I use the di out on my preamp to FoH

I'm intrigued by the idea of running my Q\Strip thru the CP12 as my stage monitor while running the XLR out to the board for FOH.

One question, though... Is there a simple way of controlling the stage volume on the fly without affecting the level going out to the board. I'm talking about volume control on the CP12 itself.

Does the q\strip level knob affect the XLR?

I have been using the CP12 as a bass amp and monitor for almost three years now. For frame of reference: Jazz gigs, jam sessions and small rehearsals. My bass has a low B and so far I have neither felt a lack of bass nor volume. Again, I don't use it for rock music.

During gigs I take a Monitor Out from the mixer and add whatever is needed, normally vocals and guitar, so the CP12 doubles as bass amp and monitor.

The CP12 has sent me on a quest for a good, battery powered preamp. So far I have used three: Mesa Subway DI, the Palmer Pocket Amp, and the Fishman Platinum Stage. All three are good. For my purposes the Fishman is the clear winner: very portable, good sound, and the battery lasts three times as long as the other preamps.

It arrived! I had to test it out in our bathroom as to not disturb the kitties. Our older cat is used to my shenanigans, but she was napping. The younger cat has no idea what she got herself into being brought home here!

I’m impressed so far. I had my 4 string USA Jazz out since it’s going with me to a blues jam this evening. Plus, I just put the La Bella Gold Flatwounds back on it. I was itching to play them.

I think it sounded great. I sent the signal via the 1/4” out from the Noble and had the volume up just a bit. I use my DCX as a clean boost so I had it off at first. I tested it both without the DCX and with and it handled it fine. Sweet piece of gear!

Any reason to go with the k12.2 vs the CP if:

-Only used as a monitor for bass firing back at my face.

-Full PA support

-Noble/Cali board

-5 string and 4 string basses

I have bass amps and cabs if needed for a gig. My need would only be for bass monitor. I read this and then had an experience at a jam with a 15” db wedge firing up at me and it was SO NICE having bass in my face/ears as opposed to behind me firing at my legs.

I did this same setup years ago when i had to travel and play a lot of showcases. My old school setup was a tech 21 Sansamp into a hartke kickback.

Quite confident this setup sounds a whole lot better though. At the time I was one of the few going ampless and direct.

Main issue is everyone needs good monitoring so they can hear you.

Took the plunge on the K12.2.

I have a Cali/Stomp XL/Noble board to try it out with.

I’m hoping to run it as a monitor for the FOH sound in one input and then use the noble thru to the other to control my volume on the fly.

I always have PA support with 2 subs so I think I’ll like this better than IEMs.

Not the best pic, I still have to get my board finalized but this set up rips.

I really, really like the tone I’m getting. I’ve heard the k12.2 can be boomy but so far I haven’t experienced that.

For what it’s worth I’m running:

Bass>Cali76 Compressor>Stomp (just for effects, no amp or cab sims)>Noble>QSC

Again, I really, really dig the tone of all this. Probably the happiest I’ve been with my sound in a while.

That's exactly how I run this guy with my k12.2.
