One of the reasons I dislike Fender, the company…yeah, I'm about as serious as a Vegas wedding.

Wow, that X-Ray room Green is the same color as a 1950 Pontiac that ran me over, thump thump. Good thing it wasn't a low rider, else it wouldn't have just been the tires thumping over me. I just couldn't walk for three weeks, no big deal. I don't laugh at air shocks any more.

They'll do this from time to time, but seldom with their basses under $1,000!

I never said that. or should I say, I never lumped EVERYONE who buys inexpensive instruments into that one specific category. I just said that those people DO in fact exist. Then I followed up in a subsequent post and said I also own a few fairly cheap guitars and basses, and also described my financial discipline. So what else you got?!

"What else you got?" Are we twelve or something?

So you went from "many people who buy cheap basses are undisciplined" to "I just said those people do exist." Yeah that's a huge distinction...
Enjoy the rest of your night.

Thanks, nan!
I recently bought this. Took a chance on reverb using Affirm and they accepted me. $225 down, I think. I had the money for it just a few weeks later but I simply decided to continue paying monthly. Mom and Dad were so mad! Now, they're telling me I have to get my hair cut and get a job…even if I have to wash dishes! *sarcasm*
Seriously, I was very happy with my Squier CV Jazz for two years or more.
I simply wanted this.
Yeah, and I deserve it!

Congrats on the bass
It's just too bad you wasted two years not being a serious musician by playing that Squier!:)

How incredibly disappointing. :(
Musicians must be the cheapest consumers out there. Nobody blinks about a t.v. that costs 1k and might last 6yrs or an $800.00 phone that's obsolete in 3.
A $1200.00 bass will last at least 3 generations if it's even half-way looked after. Sure, they're simple devices but if you fancy playing bass you'll need one.
Compared to fishing, motorcycles, skiing or mtn. bikes playing bass is CHEAP. Real cheap.
You really, really want a Fender with a painted headstock? Pony up I guess or try your cheap luck at Alibaba......
Happy Holidays all....:)

Of course we’re cheap. We’re underpaid!!! Lol!!

Yeah Fenders do suck, but you know what REALLY sucks? P basses. OMG do they suck. Jamerson= sucked. Pino= sucky. Steve Harris= sucksville. In fact, I can't think of a single decent player that plays or played a P bass. You know what the P in P bass was originally for? Puke, it's short for puke.

Lots of companies don't even offer sub-$1K basses. Of the ones that do, many don't offer matching heads.

If you'll kindly refer me to the many companies that offer you lots of matching head options under $1K I'll gladly refrain from asking the obvious question as to why this issue is specific to Fender (in your mind).
The MTD Kingstons offer plenty of matching headstocks , priced under a grand.

Probably not, but what about the labor that it takes to tape it off and then paint it and clear coat it. Seriously, people should refrain from posting on subjects about which they have little knowledge.
Ullallah... it’s the same than painting the body with a very small surface to cover ... it should be paid of course but it should always be offered as an option at least ... look at what Marusczyk does for example ... beautiful Fender like instruments in general with a variety of pickups, electronics, body and headstock colours to choose from and prices are great ... being said from a Fender guy!

Very, very true; I'm glad you mentioned it.
People complain about a whole lot of stuff, but hey, they have to get the top-of-the-line smartphone because it offers them... Ehhh, it's the top-of-the-line, the latest!

And people should stop assuming a person's knowledge/skill set. I worked as an painter's apprentice for 3 years, and my Father ran a Auto paint shop for years. So, I am aware of the labor involved for a tiny Fender headstock to be prepped, masked off, primed, painted, etc...
