The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

Maybe a little high on the used end, but definitely worth it. I didn't pay quite that much for mine, but if I had, I would not feel like I got ripped off.
I paid 1K for mine recently, and while it was "new" it was NOS, made in 2005. I was totally happy to pay that for mine.

well the purchase price of mine was just under 2K back in 2002, and being 18 at the time and having no credit, after i financed it:scowl: i paid well over 2K for it:help:. that was before the bxp's and bolt on cirrus' and they made you pay the price if you wanted one of these amazing basses. i never regret paying what i paid for mine, she's been the best bass i could have asked for. but even for today's market i think you got a good deal :D these basses are worth every penny. I've played on/tried out allot of different boutique quality basses while I've had my cirrus and have never said "man i wish my cirrus was as _____________ as this" the cirrus' are an amazing value even at 1K

Well I have yet to see it, but it is an 03 the seller quote "it's been very lightly used, has no dings or scratches. No wear on any hardware or anywhere else for that matter, no rubs on any surface. All gold hardware shows no wear as well". If a picture is worth a 1000 words then I should be happy with the price seeing that I also get the HSC and a Levi gig bag all the accessories and original paperwork that came with the bass. Other's I considered that were less expensive had various issues. So as the jury deliberates I will reserve judgment. I will let you know once the verdict is in.

I, for one, am not judging you at all. I just think that $1050 is a reasonable price given the quality of a used Mississippi made Peavey Cirrus in good condition. For full disclosure, I will admit that I got my mint four string Cirrus for under $700 from a local GC. In all fairness, they gave me a great price because I am a regular, and they know I am a Peavey nut!:D

Can anyone tell me if the graphite overlay on the headstock can be removed, without being refinished. Just got one off of the bay over the weekend. I just don't like the look of the graphite overlay.

I saw the Cirrus prototype on e-bay a few years back when I was broke, otherwise I would have loved to snag one. It was the only Cirrus I've ever seen without the graphite overlay. Even a few of the custom shope models and tiger eye models appear to have the overlay under the headstock veneer.

I'm not sure if it plays a role in sound or stability, but I figure it's important if they have it on the veneered headstocks, too.

Argh, I wish people would take halfway decent pics of expensive stuff like this... sheesh... You can't really see what the finish looks like or the custom bridge very well. :scowl:

My gut kinda tells me that this is probably an post factory mod. Most of the early Peavey Custom shop models featured a matching headstock cap. The official shop models have a different logo on the headstock, too. I have one custom shop model that had a different color and unlined ebony FB that has the usual logo.

Are you still giving out numbers? I want in.

Here is my Bubinga Cirrus that I picked up back in 98/99. I do not have any solo or close ups but here she is with her family.

Paul, what's your status on this? I'm curious! :)

Vic,
It just came in to today, it looks stunning, I mean not a mark on it, could pass for new. I played it for 15 minutes when I opened it up, then had to run off. I just got home, wanted to take another look at my Lions Pride pair. The Spalted Fret less with the C4 and the SC-1 pickup and the myrtle top blue burst are mine. Yours is awesome as well. Nevertheless, I'm off to see what kind of tone and fell I get from Cirrus. BTW what's the radius at the nut and the spacing on these doesn't fell like 19mm. Anyway, I'll be back with either more questions or comments.

Yeah, it's not 19mm. I believe it's 18mm. I can't find that spec on it, but that seems to be what mine measures to, and what I believe I've read previously.

The radii are pretty big on these... 12" radius on 4 string, 15" radius on 5 string, and 17" radius 6 string.

Congrats on the condition as stated! :)

Hey All.

I am in serious need of upgrading my gear. Until recently, I really only played bass as a hobby with different groups and my Ibanez SoundGear 405 has done the job. Now, I find myself playing more and more for really high-end paid gigs and am willing to invest whatever it takes to keep going in that direction.

What I like about my SR is the 5-string, thin, easy-to-move-around neck, and the really warm sound I get from it. In all honesty, I LOVE my bass and won't part with it. What I don't like are the passive pick-ups and pick-up noise I get in different environments from stage lights, etc.

In looking around, I'm highly considering the Peavey Cirrus-5. Will this fit in with my "likes" and what I'm looking for? I still want that warm sound, and easy to move around neck. I know it has active pick-ups. Is it virtually noise-less in the studio or under stage lights?

Also, I would like to custom build it on their website, but get very confused with all the wood / neck options. PLEASE HELP and let me know what would be the best for an up-and-coming bassist.

Thanks.

Hi guys,
I tried serching around a bit but to no avail... I was wondering if anyone would be able to enlighten me as to their fretless Cirrus experiences and opinions. I'm considering getting a fretless 6 by year's end just to have the duo of doom and hopefully curb any remaining GAS (for a while).

Right now my main bass is a TigerEye 6 w/maple board and absolutely love. Of fretless' in the past, I've dug purpleheart fingerboards the best but am basically just looking for a fretless Cirrus 6 combo that's very 'organic'

thanks in advance.
