The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

I was always attracted to the brightness of the Cirrus, and that slap tone, but I now realize that the Cirrus is also very capable of deep, P-bass style tones. It also can get a dub vibe very easily also. The is truly incredible bang ofr the buck.

Absolutely.
It`s something that I`ve also learned with time. I`ve currently recorded several tracks with it, getting a nice Pbass tone.

Although you can`t get a Jazz tone with it, you`ve got good alternatives. My former teacher recorded some tracks with my Cirrus.

I`d have never said it was a Cirrus.

Count me in!

Here's mine! I've had this bass for a very long time. I had the serial number checked by Peavey and it is indeed one of the very first Peacock Blue 4 strings to be shipped (I believe it was #6). I love everything about this bass, and have used it as my main axe since 1998!

Well, mine arrived a few days ago. The previous owner either did not know how to, or neglected to, take care of the oil finish. It also has a bad input jack, however, after I got the bass cleaned and oiled, I must say I'm IMPRESSED. This thing is beautiful, seems comfortable so far, even though I usually don't play 35 inch scale basses, and sounds great. It seems to be very versatile, and I've been able to coax a lot of good tones out if without much twiddling. It's definitely in the "Ken Smith" tone family. This could definitely find itself in heavy gig rotation.

That bass sounds like a winner. I want Cirrus five or six myself. I used my Cirrus at the morning service yesterday, and the tone is really great! It is fun to actually have that Fred Hammond type of sound in my hands. I just need a B string too.

Off topic:
That said, my 55-02 kills! Running the humbucker either solo or with the J pup really provides the mids needed for cuting throough the choir and keyboard. What I really like about the 55-02 is that it is more sensitive to playing technique than any bass I have ever owned. I can go from totally bright to very dark just by adding a touch of fingernail or all fingertip.

nice!!!

I do dig an unfinished neck more, but I like the Peavey logo more on yours.
I also very much prefer the unfinished neck, and while this custom shop model was absolutely beautiful, the red 6 string I posted earlier, with a fairly nondescript top, smoked it musically. In fact, I had both of them for a while, and was able to choose after I spent a little time with them both. I had them both for about a month, and the red bass stayed and the custom shop model went back. Just didn't have nearly as much mojo. :)
