Where do you eat after shows??

I’ve done about every late night spot in Denver for post 2am food. One of my favorite now defunct places was called Mary Jane’s Pizza. They were open from 11pm to 4:20am and hung signed pizza boxes from all of the bands and entertainers that made it a regular haunt.

What is the go to post-gig food spot in your neck of the woods?
Western PA back in the day. After-hours we headed for "Winky's" in Connellsville. While visiting my son, we went to Eat 'n Park (Slurp 'n Burp) and, yes, we got the "smiley" cookies.

In Norfolk, we avoid the Waffle House as it's a hang-out for the ho's, gang bangers, and drug dealers. Apparently, a waffle combo complements any 8-ball. WaWa is the safer bet as there's usually 2-3 police cruisers in the lot.

Riis

I grew up just outside of Pittsburgh and have eaten many slurp and burp meals. We used to frequent Perkins (in Avalon) also, Toulas on Federal St on the northside for the best chilly dogs in town. Also the best heartburn ever.

In Richmond, Virginia, Capital Ale House on a few occasions, but mostly just headed home after gigs. Waffle House was alway an option, but $5 for a pair of eggs and a cup of coffee, something I could make for about $1.50 at home just didn’t appeal to me.

In a classic rock cover band about a decade ago, one of our guitarists and I would car-pool to gigs. It was a tradition of sorts to listen to something totally unrelated to what we were about to play, play the gig and then ride home in silence, stopping at a 7-11 for some marginally edible heat-lamp baked culinary disappointments. It seemed to work. Minus the camaraderie of that fellow in later bands, the tradition became simply going home in silence and having a snack from the refrigerator before heading off to Beddy Bumpkinville.

In Bakersfield, back in the day ( 70s & 80s)
It depended on which side of town you were on.
If your gig was on the east side, you went to the Edenroc all night diner on Union Ave.
Great breakfast and cinnamon rolls as big as your head. It's a methadone clinic now.
As I remember, it sorta was back then too...
If your gig was on the Westside, you went to Zingos. Truckers, bikers, cops and shagged out bands.
You'd see friends, and not-so friends from other bands.
Good times.....

None of the good spots we used to hit are open late enough since the pandemic hit. They all scaled back their hours.

So in Houston , Tx. , it's pretty much Wataburger or Denny's. :atoz:

EDIT: And Waffle House

There is a particular Whataburger I hit every time I gig in Amarillo.

As for the post-gig food, I am the guy in the band more interested in hydration than food after the show.

I almost always eat at home. In the 70s around Johnstown, PA, it was Howard Johnson's or Top's Diner. Then, it was Dunkin' Donuts or Hardy's or Sheetz. Then, it was Denny's or Eat n' Park which now close at 10:00. Not much open late around here now; but, there are many Sheetz stores open 24/7 everywhere in this neck of the woods.

For the most part, I play acoustic duo gigs weekly - me on the four string thing and friend singing / acoustic. We play through a Bose. I Uber / Lyft to this gig. Bass in one hand, board / cables / mic stand in a duffel bag. I do this because 1) I’m useless driving at night 2) they feed me whiskey at this bar.

By the time we are finished, the drunken munchies are in full swing. I won’t bother the driver to go anywhere, so I just go home. I’ll usually attempt a pizza. Most times, I give up on waiting and eat it half-cooked. Either that, or I forget to turn the oven on. That’s happened a few times.

I usually wake up hungry lol
