Could you possibly complain just a bit more about your “band?”
You're thinking of his last band. This is a new one.

Seriously,Hmmm…
I think Halloween can be pretty fun….
Some of you might want to pull the stick out and live a little…
This ain’t a dress rehearsal you know…
Halloween is actually a lot more fun when you're older than 12.Hmmm…

A bit harsh but I understand your point.I'm at the point where I now tell band leaders who have asked me to join that I'll give them up to six rehearsals before I decide whether to commit. If the band hasn't got gigs on the books by that point, I'm out.
And no weekly rehearsals after that. Everybody comes to the gigs knowing whet they're supposed to do.
Although usually it only takes one or two rehearsals for identify the member or members who are in it because they like the idea of being in a band but have no intention of doing the necessary work.
I ran into two such bands in the last four months. Time to face the facts: all the real musicians are already in working bands. The majority of the rest are cosplaying.
BTW2 When he texted us that he couldn't practice nobody replied. Usually evernbody will text something even if its a thumbs up, but quite often an "okay, feel better" or "take care of your family" or whatever. He's cancelled so much that I think everybody expects it now, or doesn't care,. or both.
I'm wondering if there is an equivalent guitar forum (TalkGuitar, abbreviated TG??????) where the guitarist is complaining about the bassist that complains a lot while having unrealistic expectations for a garage band.
Also, I wonder if there is a TalkDrummer group that even has legible posts ... ;-)
Not even if you enjpy playing music? Just give it up and quit?If I were in this position, I'd quit gigging altogether. The nonsense isn't worth it. Not even kind of.
Maybe you misunderstood me. If everyone learns their parts on the songs at home, whether you call that practice or rehearsal, then all the band needs to do is play the songs as a unit and tidy up any parts that need tidying up. The absolute worst is trying to learn a brand new song from scratch at band practice/rehearsal.No. The point of rehearsing is not to learn songs. The point of rehearsing is to make sure everyone already learned the songs and you can cohesively play them as a band. People that are learning songs at rehearsal cause frustration to the other musicians who did their homework before rehearsal. Everyone should be working from the same list and the singer or singers should have the final say on which songs get played.
Well, he DID say in his text that he can't practice "this week" so if I came back with a response/question now, which it's really too late to do, "hey, what about practicing tomorrow night?" it would be as though I didn't read the initial text. If I said "I can't go to town this week" and someone asked "well, what about Friday?' it would sound stupid.I am practicing Friday night this week due to Halloween....if no prior plans are made, I am more than happy to rehearse on a weekend night, while also being mindful that other members are way more likely to already have commitments.
It is certainly worth asking... Unless it is an accommodation you aren't willing to make because you have higher priorities on a weekend. (No judgment, it would certainly never be my first choice.)
I don't have a problem with Halloween, it just that it takes many nights to get ready for it. And BTW I don't see any reason whey all last week wasn't also available for them to work on getting ready.Hmmm…

Nobody every said that. However, if the band and band practice gets NO priority then that person just needs to quit.please, put the band that play only covers and generate no money before your family.
