The Official U.S. Peavey Cirrus Club

So that's what that is....

I prefer the old block letters.

Of course I always thought the little squiggely thing with the triangle was kind of weird. Any idea what that was supposed to be?

Yeah, I'm not too keen on it either. I kinda specified that they NOT do that on mine, but they still did. The regular Peavey Cirrus logo looks killer. This looks like a crappy computer generated decal.

the only thing I don't dig about it is that it's not obvious enough that it's "Peavey" .... but some of the looks I get from folks after shows when they find out that the "gorgeous bass" is a Peavey is pretty priceless :smug:

Well Vic just did me a huge favor and sold me his blue Cirrus 5.

I in turn sold one of my millenniums, so now I have one Cirrus 5 and one Millennium 5. I'd better stop while I'm ahead.:)

Well, as much as I was not really enjoying the idea of losing this bass, this was meant to be, and it'll help me with something else I have in the works, so we helped each other. :)

I've sold one other particularly nice bass recently, and it really woulda' hurt a lot more if it hadn't been the case that I knew it made tons more sense for the new owner to have it, and, that the new owner is a good friend. If you are gonna' part with something special like this, that's definitely the way to do it. :)

I still think (IMHO) that's at least one of the prettiest, if not the prettiest, flame maple top I've seen on a Cirrus. It's almost combo flamed and quilted. Very deep and distinct. Looks amazing under lights. And of course the action and tone are awesome, but that's true of most (maybe all) USA Cirrus'. :)

Play it in good health Chris, you deserve this bass! It's been a long time coming. :)

Well I'm now back in the club. I have this beauty it her way to me. I'm told that she is an older Custom Shop Cirrus (alder body, flame top, birdseye maple fretboard, etc). Hoping that she is in fact a Custom Shop.
Could be, but if it is, it must be an older one or something, because the only preamp option on the custom shop models I've ever seen is the one with the sweep mids. Yours has the standard Cirrus preamp. Thing is, there's absolutely no musical or quality difference from standard to custom shop models. The only difference is the configuration and wood/inlay/hardware options.

This one could easily be upgraded to the new preamp... IF you wanted... IMHO it's not necessary on this particular wood combo. It'd run under $100 total in parts, and require the mid pot hole to be made slightly larger. Otherwise, it drops right in. I've done it twice in the past, but never felt it was necessary on the one I just sold Chris, which is nearly identical to the one you're getting.

Long story short, is anyone interested in trading YOUR US Cirrus 5 for MY US Cirrus birdseye maple fingerboard Tiger-Eye 6?

just putting it out there...

Hey Guys.

Just recently bought my first Cirrus. Beautiful USA Redwood on Alder. 5-er.

Anyway ... time to change the strings. What do you all recommend? Right now there are just regular round wound on there ...

Also: Are there particular brands you gotta get because of the 35" scale? Sorry for such basic questions. Still kinda new to all this.

But at least I can be new on a Cirrus, huh?!

For me, I've always liked the DR HiBeams (SS) or LoRiders (SS or nickel) on those, but also, the Cirrus strings are some of the best nickels I've ever played on, and they're cheap, too.
